Why local matters

SCV lawns aren’t LA lawns. We treat them that way.

The Santa Clarita Valley runs 10–15 degrees hotter than the coast, sits on heavy clay from decades of tract grading, and gets blasted by dry Santa Ana winds. A one-size schedule from a national franchise doesn’t account for any of that.

Our crews work Valencia, Saugus, Canyon Country, Newhall and the canyons every week. We set mowing heights for the heat, time fertilizer and aeration to the valley’s actual seasons, and fix the sprinkler problems behind most brown spots. You get a lawn that looks great in May and in August.

  • Mower heights adjusted by season and grass type: tall fescue, Bermuda, St. Augustine
  • Sharp blades every week, because torn grass browns in dry heat
  • Sprinkler coverage checks so you stop paying to water the sidewalk
  • Photo and text update after every visit

The SCV lawn year

What your lawn needs, season by season

Santa Clarita has its own rhythm, with a long hot summer, a short perfect fall and a mild, wet winter. Here’s how we work with it.

Spring Mar – May

Pre-emergent for crabgrass, the first feeding of the year, sprinkler tune-up before the heat, and a mower height bump as growth surges.

Summer Jun – Sep

Mow fescue at 3.5–4", water deep and early, spot-treat weeds, and watch for heat stress and grubs when the valley runs past 100°F.

Fall Sep – Nov

Prime time in the SCV: core aeration, overseeding tall fescue, and a fall feeding while soil is warm and nights cool down.

Winter Dec – Feb

Cut back irrigation for the rainy season, clean up after Santa Ana winds, trim dormant shrubs, and plan any sod or turf conversion.

Santa Clarita lawn care FAQ

How much does lawn mowing cost in Santa Clarita?

Weekly mowing, edging and blow-off starts at $45 per visit for a standard lot with up to about 5,000 square feet of turf. Every-other-week service starts at $55 per visit. Slopes, very large lots and extra green waste change the price, which is why we give each yard its own flat-rate quote.

What areas of Santa Clarita do you serve?

We serve the whole Santa Clarita Valley: Valencia, Saugus, Canyon Country, Newhall, Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, Sand Canyon and Agua Dulce, covering ZIP codes 91321, 91350, 91351, 91354, 91355, 91381, 91384, 91387 and 91390. If you are just outside those areas, ask anyway. We can often fit you onto a nearby route.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. Our recurring services run month to month. We would rather keep you because the lawn looks great than because a contract says so. If you need to pause for a trip or skip a week during a cool, slow-growth stretch, just let us know.

Why does my lawn turn brown in August?

Most Santa Clarita lawns are tall fescue, a cool-season grass that slows down and stresses when afternoons pass 95°F. Heat, low humidity, compacted clay and uneven sprinkler coverage add up to brown patches by late summer. Mowing higher, watering deeply in the early morning and fixing coverage gaps keeps most fescue green until fall.

When is the best time to aerate and overseed in Santa Clarita?

For tall fescue, the best window is fall, roughly mid-September through October, once daytime highs ease and soil is still warm enough for fast germination. Warm-season lawns like Bermuda or St. Augustine are best aerated in late spring or early summer while they are actively growing.

Do I need to be home when you come?

No. Most customers are at work when we visit. We just need access to the yard: an unlocked side gate, a gate code, or a lockbox. Dogs need to be inside. After each visit we send a quick text update so you know the work is done.
